It has been confirmed that fan-favorite stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their iconic roles in the newest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.

A Significant Comeback for the Franchise

The actors are returning as Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. Industry whispers indicate their cameos will likely occur in a future-set scene, considering the main film series concluded with their characters living in peace.

This signifies the sixth cinematic outing in the highly successful Hunger Games franchise.

Exploring the New Story

Sunrise on the Reaping is adapted from a recent book by series creator Suzanne Collins. It acts as the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who was behind nearly all the previous films in the series.

A New Era in Panem

The film's story are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is shown as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games.

The cast also includes several notable actors in key parts:

  • Jesse Plemons will portray Plutarch Heavensbee.
  • Ralph Fiennes will appear as a younger version of the calculating President Snow.
