Travelers on British Airways are set to access fast connectivity during flights without charge following a recent agreement involving the billionaire's satellite company.

Complimentary and Quick Connectivity Across the Board

The airline announced that the no-cost, “fast and dependable” wifi provision via the satellite provider becomes offered for passengers in economy, premium economy, or first class as of soon.

Expanded Rollout Over Multiple Flight Operators

The parent firm of the airline, International Airlines Group, stated it had secured an deal involving SpaceX to provide internet services across over 500 aircraft operated by the group's carriers, including the Irish airline, the Spanish carrier, plus the low-cost airline.

Smooth Connectivity starting at Boarding through Arrival

BA explained that the rollout for this service was part of a multi-billion pound “upgrade” plan and would provide smooth connectivity service for passengers starting at boarding through arrival, also when in flight over seas or far-off locations.

Current Connectivity Services

Basic wifi service is currently offered to British Airways travelers through nearly all of the airline's jets via the .air service.

Enrollees of BA’s frequent flyer program are able to transmit messages and plain-text emails onboard at no cost, while flyers who want to access audio, video, or content on the journey who are not travelling in premium cabins can expect to be charged between £4.99 and twenty-one pounds ninety-nine for one connectivity bundle.

The Satellite System

The provider operates a constellation of many thousands with orbiting devices which is managed under SpaceX’s company.

Ongoing Upgrades at BA

Their management has been working to turn the airline again following years with financial constraints, system failures, strikes, and large-scale layoffs.

The airline noted that application of artificial intelligence has assisted them to achieve its on-time performance to peak performance since over a decade ago.

Profit Performance

Earlier this year, BA reported a jump for operating profits for the first six months recently, assisting IAG’s profit higher.

IAG is due to report the earnings covering the three months from July to September on Friday.
